Protecting Older Adults From Crime

Although the information presented here pertains to law enforcement agencies who must now provide increased services to their community's rapidly growing older adult population, all who read will benefit.  How to accurately assess the needs of an older adult population, and how to maintain maximum efficiency with a minimum of time, effort, and money, are among the topics of discussion.

This material is rooted in the belief that no one knows your community better than you. As such, you must be the ultimate judge of what is, and is not, suitable to your community's specific needs. If there exists any one universal rule, then it is this:

Regardless of what programs you implement--none of them should be cast in stone. During your attempts at providing and maintaining effective and cost efficient service to your community's older adult population, flexibility and periodic review should serve as the foundation upon which all services and programs are based.

To obtain maximum benefit from the material provided, topic pages are set up to appear in logical order. Each page contains a link to the next in the series, with an option to return to this index page.  If, however, you are seeking specific information, we've included a subject index on the right side of this page.
