This
page shall be used for general information about PACC and it's membership. Since
this particular section is available to the public, we shall only included
materials suitable for this format. News of what some of our members are doing,
new fraud programs, interesting cases, legal developments, and other such topics
will be updated on a regular basis.
Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts
Board member, Bruce Walstad took the initiative in the aftermath of
hurricane Katrina to provide some comfort for the children who suffered through
this horrible event. He originally set out to raise money from his friends and
fellow PACC members. All proceeds were originally used to purchase toys. As
Bruce would later discover, this project grew way beyond his original
expectations. What he did not account for was that his friends and associates
would pass on this request to their friends and associates. Proving that people
helping others in their time of need is more than just a concept, he has already
raised in excess of $15, 000, with more on the way.
One person who really took a request for a five-dollar donation seriously was
Delores Temes of the Addison Police Department in Illinois. Besides the
donations she received from within the police department, she got 40 volunteers
together from the Addison Police Department and the Village of Addison. After
obtaining permission from the chief of police and procuring the usually permits,
they had thank-you stickers made for distribution to those who contributed. They
then went to various stores and shopping malls in Addison and solicited
donations from shoppers. In all, this fundraiser netted $10,000.
And This Is What It's All
About
PACC Forum site. For those who were
regular visitors to our DELPHI forum site, you might have noticed it missing.
We were forced to discontinue the site because too many people chose to use the
opportunity to remain anonymous as a way to act rude and otherwise obnoxious.
Although such people could be excluded from participation, the editing time
required to monitor them far outweighed any worthwhile gains.
PACC member, Gene Hall, was published in the latest edition of Police and Security
News Magazine. His article, Crime and The Gypsies, provides readers with
information on a host of Gypsy-related frauds. Gene is a retired detective who now
teaches criminal justice courses at the Community College of Southern Nevada. For
more information on the article Gene can be reached at

PACC member, Glen Hester is busy working on a new book about carnival scams.
As he has learned, getting the book written pales to the task of locating a suitable
publisher. We wish Glenn the best of luck during his search. He is also
writing articles for a professional magician's magazine pertaining to the use of magic
during crime prevention programs.
Fast Company
Magazine's carries an article about Dennis
Marlock and PACC. The article
is titled Master Of Deception and is written by the magazines senior writer, Linda
Tischler. An on-line version can been seen
on the company web site:
FAST COMPANY.

Bill Hendrickson continues to distribute the Illinois State Police photo
identification manual on criminal Gypsy groups. Copies of this much needed
mug book and CD disk can be obtained by contacting Hendrickson.
Billy Zeh (who served as an
instructor for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center) was installed on
December of 2004, as the PACC Grant Administrator.
Abe Carnow,
one of our resident CPAs, has written an article about taxbreaks for fraud victims.
You can access the article under the Articles section of this web site. The article contains relevant
information and should be added to your Must Read list.
Court TV Special
In case you didn't know it, our membership
participated in a special Court TV program which exposed the most current street
scams. Many of our members played the role of con artists, and after seeing the
program, we have to ask ourselves if they were really acting or simply playing
themselves. The program received terrific reviews, so it will be repeated on
many occasions. We'll let you know when it's on again.
Tom Rinaldo
has reworked his carnival fraud book and his Robbery on the
Midway Gambling Fraud book. Be sure to check out the book section on this web site.
Dennis Marlock lost his mind and wrote a
book called, How To Become A Professional Con Artist. We can't tell you
if he's crossed over to the enemy camp, or if there's something else at work
here. You'll just have to read the book and form your own conclusions.
Bruce Walstad's book, Caution
Practical Joker Ahead, continues to receive great reviews and is one you
don't want to miss. Since he's pulled gags on just about everyone within PACC,
it might be nice to see how he pulled them off.
NEW SENIOR CITIZEN SURVIVAL GUIDE
Because older adults exist as a favorite
target of con artists and other criminals, Lt. Marlock has added a Senior Survival
Section to his web site. Be sure to stop in and read what's posted. Senior Crime
prevention officers should contact
Marlock if they have items they would like to see included on this
site: Here's a link to FraudTech's site:

Gypsies & Traveller Criminal Groups: Through necessity, the section on Gypsy and Traveller criminal groups has
been greatly expanded. With law enforcement coming under attack from various Romani
activists, you won't want to miss this section of
Marlock's site. You can link to the site here:
